Hi Everyone!

Today is National Random Acts of Kindness Day which is part of Random Acts of Kindness Week which runs until February 20.

What can you do today to share your kindness with someone?

  • Can you write a letter or email someone you care about, someone who made a big impact in your life, and them know how much you love them or the difference they made in your life?

  • Can you volunteer to help someone in need?

  • Can you perform a random act of kindness with a stranger or a loved one?

  • Can you give something to someone else?

  • Can you offer your time with someone? An ear? Or a hand?

What will you decide to do?

When I used to travel alone I always depended on the kindness of strangers. Like Blanche said in the play, Streetcar Named Desire, "I have always depended on the kindness of strangers."

You have no idea how a seemingly small gesture can play in someone's life, especially at this time when many are in lockdown and are feeling depressed, stressed, overwhelmed, even fearful about their futures.

Perhaps the one who really deserves your kindness is yourself.

  • Have you been hard on yourself?

  • Have you been overcritical?

  • Have you been working too hard without a break?

  • Have you been putting unrealistic expectations on yourself?

  • Have you been taking care of everyone else's needs and forgetting about your own?

If so, then I have something just for you. Last Friday, I started Fill Up Your Heart: Self-Love Series on Facebook. It started with an idea to support those around Valentine's Day, but then I realized more time was required.

If you missed my Facebook Lives the replays are still up as well as, the prompts to help you to prioritize yourself and to exercise self-love.

Unfortunately, we are society that is driven by success and material possessions so many people do not value taking time to slow down and connect to themselves and fill themselves up with love. Many believe love comes from others, but like Whitney Houston said,

"Because the greatest love of all

Is happening to me.

I found the greatest love of all

Inside of me.

The greatest love of all

Is easy to achieve.

Learning to love yourself

It is the greatest love of all."

We mustn't forget that we have to love ourselves first in order to have confidence, to be happy, and to achieve all that we desire. We must remember that the love we give ourselves ripples out and affects everyone around us. It attracts people to us: friends, romantic love, business colleagues. But also the same is true for negativity. Hurt people hurt people. Healed people heal people. We must fill ourselves up with love so that we can give from a full cup and so that it splashes over onto others to help them too.
